Jim was born in Somerset
in 1972, the son of renowned British artist David Farrant. His own
interest in painting professionally grew up as he studied Fine Art at
Somerset and Portsmouth Colleges.
After graduation Jim travelled extensively around Australia, India and
North America. His experiences during this formative time were hugely
influential on his developing style in terms of colour, form and sheer
scale of his high impact canvases.
His early work concentrated on large abstract pieces, but more recently
his paintings have changed direction and become more figurative. His
latest images are scenes of everyday life that outline a definite story
- although he leaves the finer details up to the viewers own
imagination.
Jim now divides his time between Devon where he enjoys working alongside
his father, and his own studio in London. He has exhibited extensively
over his successful career, and over the last year has displayed and
sold his work in London, New York and Dallas, Texas.
