Born in 1959, Jonathan
graduated with a BA (hons) in Fine Art over twenty years ago, and has
been painting and exhibiting his work professionally ever since.
After graduation he was beset by wanderlust and decided to see the
world, starting with Africa. This was a hugely influential period for
him, and much of his work still communicates the great variety of that
extraordinary continent, from the arid northern deserts to the lush
green parklands and stunning coastlines of the South and East.
More recently Jonathan has discovered inspiration closer to home. The
Lake District, with its moody skies and rapidly changing light has
become a favourite area, as has Ireland with its great drama and
remoteness. He spends much of his time painting on location,
experiencing the landscape face to face, and working to capture that
elusive quality of nature - energy combined with mysticism.
Jonathan’s bold and stylish landscapes are painted either in acrylics or
mixed media. They are on display in galleries all over the UK, and can
be found in many private collections in Europe and the USA. His artwork
has also been used on five CD covers for Universal Music.
